The Luck Factor

January and February were exceptionally long months this year with four little kids, mitts, toques, driving to school in -50 bellow weather, no sunshine and just general winter blues. I found myself at the local library in the self help section. This seems kind of ironic because if I had the power to help myself I wouldn't need a book! One of the books I picked up to help me make it through until spring is a book by Richard Wiseman called "The Luck Factor". I found this book fascinating and it has been many a year since I have done a book report but in short the book talks about how we make our own luck and people that perceive themselves as lucky find opportunities and meet people who end up creating lucky situations for themselves. I loved this idea so much I decided to start my own luck journal!

Here goes. The day I picked up the book at the library I was there for a ladies business luncheon and I won one of the major door prizes; a basket full of cooking supplies, a cookbook and various goodies. This will come in a lot handier than the gardening package that was also there!

I won a coffee in the T-Ho "roll up the rim to win contest"

Yesterday I got the greatest news. Over the Christmas holidays I entered my hubby in the "Dad's we Love" contest. You had to submit a photo and an essay about how great of a Dad your hubby is and they phoned yesterday from "Today's Parent" Magazine to tell me the he was selected as one of the top 5 Dads! Woo Hoo. He and the kids are going to be featured in the June edition.

Today I was caller #9 on the radio station and won three mugs and "Cold FX".

Throughout my life I feel like I have been very lucky and a lot of people in my family are as well. I guess we will test this theory and hopefully this won't be my first and last post!
